Ria Lina is an accomplished comedian, writer and cabaret performer with over 15 years’ experience under her belt. She confounds and disarms with a combination of diminutive sweetness and rapier wit. A regular on the comedy circuit, Ria’s trademark tongue-in-cheek ukulele songs, quick-witted compering skills and smart-thinking stand-up make her an exciting live performer.

“Engaging, endearing and eye-opening” Time Out

Ria has taken five critically acclaimed shows to the Edinburgh Fringe and other arts festivals, including School of Riason, which was nominated for the Amused Moose Laughter Awards and contained one of Dave’s Top 10 Jokes of the Fringe. Dear Daughter won Best Comedy at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival in 2016. School of Riason was recorded and broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2016.

“she is joyous in her darkness from the beginning, and weaves in smart, thoughtful, engaging discussion throughout” Three Weeks

Ria could define ‘global citizen’: born in High Wycombe to an American mother of Filipino descent and a German father, she gained her American accent from a combination of living in California until the age of 9 and then moving to the Netherlands, where she went to The American School of The Hague before studying Experimental Pathology at St Andrews, Scotland and then to London for her Masters and PHD. She calls London home, where she now lives with her husband and their three children.

“academically smart, politically astute and with songs, music and slick delivery.” Chortle

So far in 2017, Ria has toured Benelux with Marcel Lucont, continues to be the regular tour support for Puppetry of the Penis, and can be heard as a weekly contributor on BBC Radio Kent.

“Ria Lina is a punchy performer.” Kate Copstick

“Ria Lina is fearless, provocative and very funny” The Scotsman
